Historically speaking, being soft has meant being weak or sissy or whatever, but rest assured, there is nothing soft about the Burton Beacon Softshell Jacket. The warm, breathable, and quick-drying fleece lining is wrapped in a weatherproof dobby pinstriped DRYRIDE Softshell fabric, making it a highly functional and stylish jacket for everything from riding, to hiking, to cruising the streets. Oversized, ventilating handwarmer pockets keep the paws comfortable so they'll be ready for battle in the off chance someone says something about your Softshell Jacket being soft.

Great jacket!
Burton was not joking when they said that they had a soft waterproof shell.
Great jacket, but a little thin
The first thing that I noticed about this jacket when I picked it up was the texture of the fabric. It just felt durable and tough, not to mention how waterproof it felt. The fit is a little snug in the body, but the arms were longer than normal for a large, which works great for me at 6'2" and 170lbs. The pockets are huge so you won't have any trouble reaching a gloved hand in, and there is a pouch for an MP3 player or cell phone in the left pocket. The only drawback is that the liner is very thin, but if you're looking for a waterproof shell to layer up underneath, this is a great jacket for you.
