Burton AK - always amazing
Burton AK is reputatble for it's highend quality, while at affordable price. Although it is just an outer shell and you will have to wear under shirts to keep warm, it will definitely keep you light and dry. With the cool look and the flexibility for add layers and taking off layers, AK makes an ideal outer jacket for any condition.
Great jacket, well-designed
I just got this and I'm very happy with the purchase. Sizing is a bit weird -- I'm 5'11", 210 lbs and went with the XL. I've got plenty of room in the chest and shoulders. Arms are a bit long and overall jacket length is long, but I'm thinking it was designed that way to keep the powder out. When the powder skirt is snapped up it's pretty much at the bottom of my butt. A little shorter would be OK but I wouldn't want to sacrifice the room upstairs. Features are very well-thought out and I'm looking forward to getting it out on the mountain. Jacket has some insulation and with a base layer should probably be fine for all but the coldest days. Hood won't fit over a helmet but it should stay out of the way. This version of the jacket, which I think is last years' model, still has the zip-link jacket to pant interface, but I don't think the current (2010-11) model does. This one also has the snaps to connect up jacket to pants without the zipper, but obviously the zipper is a better idea if your pants have that feature. Overall, great jacket and Burton stuff typically lasts a long time. Got my last Burton jacket and pants 10 years ago, and they're still in good shape but will now be relegated to backup status. I'd say it's worth full price, but at end of season sale prices, it's a steal.
Great Warmth
I've had this jacket for a couple of seasons and it is great. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a jacket that will last more than 3 seasons.
this will work
I have had several gore tex jackets over the years. this one will work fine for the La Nina winter everyone is predicting. I havent been on the mountain yet with it, but have wore it around town in some downpours (in Tacoma). The gore tex is doing what it is supposed to do! Also, I cant wait to zip it into the Analog pants to make a "poor mans" one-piece (cause we are gonna get sooo much powder this winter!!!!) it really seems like a solid jacket.
Great Jacket
its very light but does its job.
