The Gamma MX Jacket features a new lightweight Polartec Power Shield fabric in a trim cut. It's isn't waterproof like other Ascent Outerwear, but it offers an amazing warmth-to-weight ratio in a breathable, wind-resistant package. Unlike most conventional fleece, Polartec Power Shield fabric is exceptionally resilient to wear and won't snag like other fabric designs. The Gamma MX is suitable for mountaineering or ice climbing under blue bird skies and it's practically bulletproof when layered beneath a waterproof, breathable shell like the Arc'teryx Theta AR Jacket or the Beta AR Jacket. If you're into gear and gadgets, you'll appreciate the five storage pockets--more carrying capacity than most Ascent outerwear--including a sleeve radio pocket. Worth the money
I'm 5'-9", 170 lbs and I bought a medium Gamma MX. The fit is trim enough for layering under a hardshell and the stretch Polartech Powershield actually stretches. Be aware though that the sleeves fit snugly and at most you can wear two light layers under them, or a medium layer and a light fleece vest. Very tough outer layer has been snag and abrasion free. Highly recommended for wearing under a pack and harness.

light warn and snug
I'm liking this jacket. It has a bit of a snug fit but should be. I'm 6" 190lbs and I ordered the L first but sent it back for the M. Will be using for hiking, camping, etc.

finally showing some wear and tear
I purchased a black Gamma MX 5 years ago and this spring the edges, zippers, and inner lining are looking old. This has been an amazing jacket as it is unbelievably versatile. To some degree you can wear this almost year round in most conditions. My concern is now that Arcyterx has been bought out by Adidas? and made in China now, will the quality be the same as the BC built version? I guess time will tell

awesome jacket
This jacket is by far the best soft shell I have ever worn!!!! Dries fast, keeps me warm, comfortable fit, plenty of storage space, and it is tough.
