Best Of Both Worlds
I have owned the Altra 75 for a year now, and have precisely zero major complaints about this pack. I've used it on several hikes, in rain and sun, and it is hands down the most comfortable pack I've ever had the pleasure (I know, pleasure?) of carrying. It's gotten to the point that for conditioning purposes, I carry extra gear in my pack, and my back and hips don't bother me in the least. The only gripe I have is the water bladder pocket is located on the side of the pack, which might bother some backpackers, but the overall balance is such that I don't notice it. I also have back problems that I see a PT about twice a week, and after a 16 mile hike, I feel better than I do after sitting on my couch! Note: There have been some minor issues with the hip belt squeaking, but it isn't anything a minute of attention doesn't fix.
