Localiza Rent-a-Car (Avis; 428-3132; Pando 1187), next to Hotel Portales, isn’t the cheapest, but it’s the best. It’s also at Jorge Wilstermann Airport.

Bus
Convenient lettered micros and trufis (collective taxis) display their destinations and run to all corners of the city (US$0.20).
Local transport
Taxi
The taxi fare around the centre is US$0.50 per person. An extra boliviano is charged if you cross the river or go far to the south. For a radio taxi, ring CBA (422-8856).
