Moneychangers gather around the Entel office and along Av de las Heroínas. Their rates are competitive but they only accept US cash. There are numerous ATMs; cash advances are also available at major banks. Banco Unión (25 de Mayo & Sucre) has one of several Western Union offices. The best places to change cash or traveler’s checks (2% to 3% commission) are:
American (422-2307; Baptista S-159)
Efex (412-8963; Plaza 14 de Septiembre; 9am-6pm Mon-Fri) Handy location, but don’t change traveler’s checks (despite the sign).
Exprint-Bol (425-4413; Plaza 14 de Septiembre O-252) Slow but friendly.
