Several Cochabamba scams are widely reported. False police may ask for documents – insist that you will only comply at a police station – while ingenious bogus tourists (camera and Lonely Planet in hand) may ask to accompany you because they are lost. Once they have your confidence, they will try to maneuver you into a situation where an accomplice can take advantage.
The Colina San Sebastián is now regarded (even by locals) as dangerous throughout the day, so it is inadvisable to walk on any part of it.
