We are a Canadian couple (55 and 47) and our 15 year old son travelling to Bolivia and Peru for 7 weeks this summer. We have travelled in south east Asia for three months in the past and like backpacking, trekking and staying at youth hostels in private rooms. My husband speaks some Spanish - Been working at it with a tutor for this past year to prepare. Please let me know if this plan looks like it would work and comment on anything you might change, suggest instead etc

We are a couple who want to join a 3d 2n Salar de Uyuni tour in July from the town of Uyuni. We have heard that the cars get crammed with up to 6 people from Uyuni, we were wondering if anyone can recommend a company where we can pay a bit more and only share with 2 other tourists? There is a lot of information of how to do this from Tupiza but I can't find a company that advertises this from Uyuni! We also don't want to pay the high price for a private tour with just the two of us.
Hi! In a few days I will head from Salta to Bolivia. I have some US Dollars with me and also Euros. Can I exchange euros to Bolivianos in Villazon or Tupiza? Argentinian Pesos? Or should i already exchange them in Buenos Aires, is this possible?
I wouldn't prefer to use the ATMs since I can only withdraw the value of 60 per day with high commission.
We are going for a 3 weeks trip in Bolivia and and would be interested in buying decent mountain bikes in la paz to do the trip
Does someone know shop where we could buy ? (and maybe sell it back to the vendor after the trip)
I've already checked at http://www.xbikesstore.com/, www.gravitybolivia.com/
Thanks for your answers.
Dear US travellers, being Dutch I am happily exempt from all those visa requirements. However, my girlfriend isn't. I was wondering if any of you have any advice on what kind of supporting documents to take to justify the visa, given that we have no ticket in, no hotels booked, and no ticket out. Having talked to the consulate here in SP twice, we have received completely different information, from the same person, twice : 'D First time, they said that we need to request a visa in advance, and…
Can somebody please share their recent experience with the tour operators in Uyuni? I'm looking for an agency that can organize a 3d trip. So far I have found the following agencies: Estrella del Sur, Uyuni Tours and Red Planet.
My team would like to do some trekking out of Sorata in Sept. Does anyone have updates on the guide situation in Sorata? Most of what I've been reading is at least three years old and not encouraging. The last I read the guides were of poor quality and comparatively expensive. On the other hand, the Feb 2015 edition of The Rough Guide to Bolivia indicates that the guide situation is quite good. But again, I don't know if that info is current and reliable.
We have two full days in Uyuni and are staying at one of the salt hotels at the edge of the Salt flat. I have two questions
Can we do a day trip to the Red and Green Lagoons? Are there any good tour companies for this? So far I have seen only 2/3 day trips.
What would be a good day trip for day 2?
I'm going to be in Bolivia a Monday-Saturday and I would like do a two-night trip to Isla del Sol (with a night in Copacabana and then a night on the island) as well as see the El Alto market on the Thursday that I'm there. I land in La Paz very late Sunday night/Monday morning and I want to take it easy on the first day due to the altitude, so I don't want to take the tourist bus to Copacabana early Monday morning. What's the best way to do this? Are there afternoon buses to Copacabana as well…
Hey everybody !
I am actually prepraring my solo trip to Bolivia before to meet with mt friend in Perou. I am getting ready to go, but most of my friends are stressing me out about the Zika virus. If anyone could tell me how bad it is really ( or not) and how as a traveler you deal with it. Also, I am trying to do a lot of trek and Hiking, it seems that a lot of those thing must be done through tours, which make the trip really expensive at the end of the day, do you guys have any other…
