Today's newspaper carries a report that YF vaccination certificates will be checked for foreign travellers at border crossings
This follows a case in the lowland area of northern La Paz. Spanish speakers may be struck, as I was, by the emphasis on a foreign traveller being affected and there being no local cases.
It might be prudent to assume that Bolivian border officials will be more…
What footwear would you recommend for Bolivia? I'm not doing any serious trekking, but I would like to walk in the mountains outside of Sucre and perhaps around Tupiza. Beyond that, I will be going to the salt flats and am open to whatever comes up. Are solid walking shoes sufficient or do I need to lug my boots along? Thanks.
me and my friends are planning to visit South America for the first time. We will arrive in Sao Paulo in December 19th and around December 25th we would like to fly to La Paz and then take the bus to lake Titicaca to Copacabana.
Do you please have any recommendations what to visit and see and where is the best scenic view on lake with mountains? We will have 3-4 days there and we are keen on visiting as many interesting places as possible around the lake. .
We are busy on a 4 month trip around some of South America. We are 2 months in not and want to do the amazon in some way. We will be in Bolivia and Peru in July and the beginning of August before heading back to Brazil. We wanted to know where the best place to do the jungle was? We love wildlife and some people have recommended the pampas for that but we also want to see a bit of the jungle itself. We are on a budget so we also don't want anything too expensive..
We've heard getting to…
I am going to travel in Bolivia this August/September. I am planning my itinerary and any help, suggestions, recommendations would be much appreciated.
I will arrive in Sucre and I am planning to stay two days there. Any recommendations? It seems that the transports from Sucre to Potosi are easy, bus or shared taxis, am I right? I am not sure yet how the shared taxis work. Then I am planning to stay two days in Potosi and then take a bus to Tupiza. Are there many buses? Different companies…

Nueva Aventura is a great mom and pop tour agency. Their son, Sammy was our guide and he was great. Super knowledgeable and fun. Even when I got back, they were always checking up on me (I was traveling alone) and went to the airport to find me when I didn't respond to their email. Really reasonable and their personal attention is something that I found to be really affecting. It made me feel safe and that I was being looked after.
Hello! I plan to travel to Salar de Uyuni the week of June 24 but was just advised that my current tour company is arranging an alternative tour route because current weather conditions are poor. Does anyone have any recent insight here with regard to what the weather conditions are like? In general, I am trying to decide between doing a day tour or sticking to the alternative itinerary that include the 3-day tour across the country. Thank you for your general information!
My daughter and I are traveling to Bolivia on July 9 - 20th. We have open in our schedule Sunday July 16th - Thursday July 20th flying in and out of Santa Cruz (this may need to change). We like outdoors, hiking, historical sites, local markets...We will have a day or two already in Santa Cruz so we are trying to find the best place to spend Sunday afternoon - Thursday in Bolivia. Should we go to salt flats? Or would you head to La Paz and do Copacabana and Isla del sol?
I might change our…
