We were actually staying at Hotel Rosario. We usually do not to eat in hotel restaurants - believing that a better restaurant experience  can be had elsewhere. Something drew us to this one, though, and we were not disappointed.The waiters are friendly, the restaurant manager did his best to cater to our requests, and the atmosphere was inviting. They must be doing something right - it was overflowing every night. Even as a hotel guest, you need to book. The nights we failed to book were the nights we had to eat elsewhere. 

The word Tambo means market, and the restaurant decor is as a market stall - the salad bar area being the middle of the stall with a canopy over it. The remainder of the restaurant is generally Spanish colonial. 

The food we had was excellent - the Llama steaks (Medallions) were something I personally enjoyed. The selection of local wines were also good, and if you didn't want a full bottle, red and white wine by the glass is available. The "all you can eat" salad bar was a hit with many diners - we watched one night as one solo traveller went back time after time to help himself to the salad bar, and he had clearly been a regular patron of the restaurant as he appeared to be well known by the manager.

The coffee is some of the best we had in the whole of Peru and Bolivia - not necessarily the best, but certainly worth a trip to this restaurant if you are looking for a decent espresso or cappuccino.

It is a popular group restaurant  - most nights there were  tables with groups of travellers swapping tales and enjoying, what for many, was obviously the last night of their trip. Perhaps one criticism is that with the groups, the restaurant becomes a little noisy.

Breakfasts were substantial, however, not everyone wants a "hearty" breakfast. I would say the breakfast was only average, although certainly better than a lot of breakfasts in South America.

We would rate this one as a good place to meet and eat. The hotel is good value as well.
