Lonely Planet review

Three blocks from the historic heart of the city (up a seriously steep hill), this hostel occupies a lovely historic building that was home to one of Bolivia’s first presidents. Its two large courtyards make for a quiet oasis, and it has an extremely chilled air. All the rooms are fairly basic (those downstairs can be dank and musty), but will make for a pleasant, if unremarkable, stay. The apartment sleeps five.

Our independent authors have visited Hostal Republica and selected this as one of our recommended guesthouses in La Paz.

Description provided by property

Highly recommended by Lonely planet and other travel guides. Right downtown, it was formerly the home of ex Bolivian President Pando and has been lovingly converted into a beautiful spacious Hostal with a relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff, english spoken.

Tours and excursions can be organised through us if required.
