Hi there fellow travellers
In a couple of weeks my girlfriend and I will be finally going to Bolivia (for 5 weeks! :D).
We love to do the Illampu Circuit and do some biking in Sorata aswell.
I've searched this forum and the net, but I can't find recent info about the trek/situation/guides etc. Is there anyone on the forum who lives in Sorata? Or has been there very recently? Or has some really contacts there?
All the help will be apreciated very much!!!
Thanks in advance!
I am an American passport holder who is planning on traveling to Bolivia soon. I am well aware that I need a visa in order to visit the country. I am wondering if I should arrange it beforehand or just get it at the airport.
I am flying from Cusco to La Paz by Peruvian airlines. I have read many Americans stating that getting the visa at the airport was relatively easy. However, I have seen a blog that have stated that Americans have been turned back at the border or by the airline for not…
I'm a solo backpacker who likes to wake up and decide whether to catch the bus to the next city, or stay and enjoy the city I'm in another day. My itinerary changes often and I tend to stay in some places longer than expected and vice versa. Seems Bolivia (and Brazil which I plan to skip) is the only country where I need a visa in advanced as a US citizen, but not only that. Bolivia requires an itinerary, entry and exit dates, and even a flight all the way back home (not just out the country!).…
I would like to do a three-day Salar de Uyuni tour and I want to arrive on a specific date.
Do tours (especially three day ones) leave daily? And should I book when I'm down there (as opposed to arranging it beforehand) if I have a specific date I'd like to go?
Hi, I'd like to see is there's anyone traveling around La Paz in October who might want to share some tours. I'm really interested in doing some 1 day treks but I will be traveling alone and unfortunately the tour companies need at least 2 people or they want you to pay double.
Anyone wants to share Chacaltaya - Huayna Potosí 1 full day tour? Here is the description
"Chacaltaya - Huayna Potosí
Chacaltaya – Huayna Potosi (1 day).
The two hour drive passes through El Alto and onto the Altiplano…
There is some discussion wether it is worth or not to go to the sunday market in Tarabuco.
We were there and I think it depends on what you would like to do/see.
If you are in for the tourist stuff: there is a lot, but maybe you can get it in Sucre as well. I don't know because I was not interested in. It seemed to me that all the vendors had the same stuff.
But if you would like to see people in their colourful dresses and with different kind of heats buying things and discussing the colour…
Hi, I'm thinking about doing a jungle tour (maybe also la Pampas, although I've done the Pantanal jaguar tour in Brazil, and it sounds it may be similar) in Rurrenabaque. It is cheaper/easier to book it in La Paz? Or should i get to Rurrenabaque and then book while there? Any tour companies you guys can recommend and how much would each would be (ballpark)?
Can you please let me know if the itinerary I am thinking (Of course reading a lot of ideas in forums and guide books) make sense or need some modification? Also if possible reply few question.
I will keep posting only the part of itinerary in respective forums, like here will post for Bolivia Part only.
23-Oct - Morning take a Bus from Puno to cross…
My girlfriend and I are planning (finally!!) our trip to Bolivia. We would love to do the Ride and River trip (in Sorata withAndean Epics). Its a 3 day downhill/mountainbike trip combined with a 3 day (motorized) canoe trip into the jungle.
Is there any one on this forum that has done it before??
We would like to do it in the end of october. What is the weather like at that time in the area from Sorata to Rurrenabaque (I know its a big and diverse area).?
Any one who's keen in…
