Public transport operators are threatening a 24-hour strike for Tuesday 28. May not happen, but just in case be ready to switch to Plan B at the last minute. So far only long-distance road-warriors seem to be involved.
Grievances, this time round, are:
1. Disagreement with arrangements for issuance of obligatory third-party insurance for 2015 (sub-text: "We want to self-insure").
2. Having to pay outstanding fines as pre-condition for annual vehicle mechanical inspection (sub-text: " We…
I would like to share my recent experience in hiking in Bolivia a couple of weeks ago. I selected The Cordillera Real for my hike due to cost and timing. The tour company picked me up from La Paz and we camped near Lake Nuni. The first day was spent acclimating for the new height. We were at 4550 meters. During the second day, we hiked to Laguna Chiar Khota. A beautiful lake surrounded by majestic mountains. During the third day, we hiked to Pico Austria summit which stood at…

I'm going to Bolivia in November and was wondering what type of clothing would be best to bring.
I normally pack layers and have some light material hiking type trousers. I've read that it gets cold during the night, so what do I bring with me?
Anything out of the ordinary that I might not think of taking?
For reference I'm going to Salar de Uyuni, Potosi, Sucre, La Paz, Coroco, Isla Del Sol and Lima.
I've been searching for some info regarding buses / minibuses / shared taxis from Copacabana to La Paz.
The thing is, we've got a plane to catch in La Paz (going to Rurrenabaque, plane leaves at 16:55) and 13:30 bus is not an option anymore. Is there a chance to leave Copacabana at around 11, get to La Paz at ±14:30, and is it enough time to get to the airport? In other words, should we stick to this plan, or get to La Paz the day before?
can some advise me on the easiest way to get from Northern Chile to Salar De Uyuni, for a standard 3 day trip and then head to Cusco for Machu Picchu trip. I go at the end of November So i hope it shouldnt be that crowded. And how much time will it take me to get to Cusco, after the 3 day trip in Salar de Uyuni?
I'm hoping to visit Rurrenabaque, take tours of the Pampas and Madidi in mid December. I know that this is somewhat the low and rainy season, but I'm wondering if this will impact my trip.
Is it typical for flights to Rurrenabaque to be delayed for weather this time of year, and how long?
Do tour operators still run tours this time of year?
Is wildlife still active during December.
My 15 day (extremely loose) itinerary is
Fly into La Paz and fly directly to Rurrenbaque
Pampas and Madidi trips…
I have a Bolivian visa but am wondering if there are any requirements for round trip tickets and/or hotel reservations when entrying Bolivia overland. I wil be traveling from Cusco to La Paz. I'm not traveling back to the United States for awhile and don't have a purchased return ticket. Has anyone had any experience with this?
first i would like to write the route before i enter in details of the trip.
