Catch us at Britain's Festivals
Posted at 06:56AM Aug 16, 2007 by CarolB
The reclusive British sun has (finally) got his hat on and Lonely Planet is coming out to play! We're pulling on our Wellington boots, smothering ourselves in sunscreen and taking our love of travel out to a festival near you. We've got ourselves a tent full of inspiring Bluelist themed games, freebies and competitions and we'd love it if you'd join us for a refreshment or two.
Whilst you're in our tent, you could challenge your friends to a game of Travel Intelligence - if you're curious you'll just have to come along and find out - or chat to one of the Lonely Planet staffers on hand about your favourite places in the world, write your own Bluelist of recommended travel, chill out and flick through our books or get a sneak preview of some of the fantastic images from the forthcoming Bluelist book.
Here's where we're rocking up to. If you're heading to any of these events, come and say hello!

Comet Newsletter highlights travelling light and helping out
Posted at 07:22AM Aug 14, 2007 by CarolB
We polled over 24,500 people worldwide in our annual Travellers' Pulse survey and the numbers show travellers want to get sustainable - 84% of respondents said they would consider offsetting their carbon emissions in the future, and 79% of respondents said they would consider volunteering in the future. The future is now, my friends!
The August edition of Comet zeroes in on the eco tourism, sustainable travel and volunteering theme. Once again, community members have outdone themselves with their contributions. From "If you could nominate any living person as an 'environmental hero' who would it be and why?" questions on Thorn Tree forum to "Doing Good On Vacation in a Developing Country" Bluelists.
Suggestions, experiences, advice, videos, you name it. What are you waiting for? Get inspired with the August edition of Comet. Thanks for sharing!
