Lonely Planet Community Highlights : It's all about me

It's all about me

Our Thread of the Day comes from alloallo3, who asks why people behave differently on virtual forums, such as Thorn Tree.

It's a question that's been asked since the early days of the web, and has driven countless PhD students to distraction. Some scientists think our involvement in online communities will lead to a kind of digital personality disorder. Other scholars think the freedom they provide is an important part of staying healthy and sane in a high-pressure world. Mountains of academia and pillars of industry have grown up around this question.

What do you think? Any Thorn Tree-ers willing to share their insights about life on its multifarious branches? Here's what one custodian of Thorn Tree had to say. Jump on the thread and let us know your take.

What username shall I pick?
