Tensions in Tibet

All eyes were on the escalating tensions in Tibet over the weekend, as violence erupted in Lhasa. Our Lonely Planet community were in the thick of the discussion and debate.
The Thorn Tree Travel Forum quickly became a valuable source of first hand reporting and perspectives, both The New York Times and popular blog Boing Boing pointing to the accounts appearing there.
Our Lonely Planet community members are also doing a fantastic job at aggregating links to relevant news coverage of the events around the world. For those interested in following or contributing to the ongoing discussion, read on here and here:
"the situation seems to be very nervous and paranoid up here. there is police and military everwhere... at night it's quite strange to see hundrets of policeforce watching you from every corner."
"Can confirm that it is no longer possible to enter Tibet... Everyone in Lhasa is holding their breath now....waiting to see what happens next. It sounds like Saturday was much quieter with only sporadic incidents around town. There is a lot of fear and everyone is very scared of the secondary response from the govt."
Take our poll: Do you know someone directly affected by the events in Tibet?
