The South American Explorers Club, which has clubhouses throughout the continent, recently held launch parties to celebrate Lonely Planet´s new digital product – Pick & Mix - now available through the SAE website.
Organiser Heather gives us the skinny on how it went, and has the photos to prove it!
SAE members and non-members alike enjoyed learning about Pick & Mix, picking up Lonely Planet caps and t-shirts, and a veritable feast of International Pick & Mix food!
Buenos Aires was first to celebrate the launch on March 5, at a joint event organized with TEN (Travel and Education Network).
The Quito, Cusco and Lima Clubhouses held simultaneous events on March 13, which all included a powerpoint presentation on the benefits of Pick & Mix, as well as information on how to purchase chapters through the SAE website.
Playing on the Pick & Mix theme, recommended local restaurants serving different international foods were asked to participate and donate food and drinks for the events. An average of 60 people went to each event.
The Lima Clubhouse even had a live band and Lonely Planet merchandise was awarded to the best dancers on the night!
SAE would like to thank Como Agua Para Chocolate for Mexican food, FLUID Restaurant & Couch Bar for Thai Food, TAI-I Vegetariano for Vegetarian Food and Muyuna Amazon Lodge for Jungle Drinks and Pepe Lara and his band who kept the party pumping in LIMA, PERU.
The Quito, Ecuador Clubhouse was able to put on such a great event thanks to Indochine who provided Vietnamese Food, The Magic Bean who donated various International Foods, The Great Indian who true to their name, provided great Indian Food, and Coffee Road, whose varieties of coffee provided the energy for a great night!
Last but not least, in Cusco, Peru, thanks go to La Bodeguita Cubana for delicious Cuban Food & Mojitos, A Mi Manera for Novo Andean Food, The Real McCoy for British Food, Sumaq Misky for Peruvian Food, Jack´s Café for International nibbles, Paddy´s Irish Pub for the shepherds pie, and The Coca Shop for Chocolates & toffees made with traditional coca leaves.
A great (and delicious) time was had by all.
