Lonely Planet Kids: design your own planet competition

By Maria McKenzie   1 January 2016 7:20pm Europe/London

There may be a whole world of adventure at our very feet, but there are also many more beyond this planet that we call home. So, whether your little one is an aspiring space explorer or is always on the lookout for unexplored territories, this month’s Lonely Planet Kids’ creative challenge is all about exercising their astronaut status.

Follow the instructions below for a chance to win an Adventure JetPack from Loubilou and a copy of Lonely Planet Kids’ How to be a Space Explorer.

Grab your colouring pens and let your imagination run wild! We want to see what your child’s very own planet would look like. Whether it’s a skyscraper spectacular, a wild wilderness or something that has fallen out of the pages of their favourite fairy tale, download the activity sheet here and get creative!

There are four ways you can help your child enter the design your own planet competition:

  1. By email: Scan, upload or take a photo of their entry and send it from your email address to Lonely Planet Kids at lonelyplanet.kids@lonelyplanet.com.
  2. By Twitter: Tweet their entry to @lpkids including #lpkidschallenge.
  3. By post: Send a copy of their entry to us via post to:

Please ensure you include your email address with any entry sent via registered post so we can contact you if your child’s entry is chosen as the winner.

  1. On your blog: Post your child’s entry to your blog and email the blog link to lonelyplanet.kids@lonelyplanet.com.

Entries must be received by 11.59pm (GMT) on 31st January 2016. With all entries, please include whether you are happy for us to share your child’s entry on Twitter. This won’t affect their entry in any way.

The most creative and inspiring entry will win an Adventure JetPack from Loubilou and a copy of Lonely Planet Kids’ How to be a Space Explorer. Two runner ups will also receive a copy of the book.

Loubilou is an online shop showcasing childrensware from independent sellers around the world. The Adventure JetPack is from HarryandJack’s, a family run business which designs fun innovative backpacks for kids with big imaginations.

Before entering, please read the terms and conditions here.
