Snazzy suits and party dresses at the ready! The Cannes Film Festival hits the south of France from 11 to 22 May. While we can’t offer you a way into the festival itself – it’s reserved for those in the business only – a trip to Cannes at this time of year is guaranteed to be special.

The festival showcases movies from upcoming film-makers and established directors. As you might expect it’s a celeb-spotters paradise. Veteran actor and director Robert de Niro is one of this year’s judges and a whole host of famous faces will be there to take part.

May is a great time of year to explore other areas of the French Riviera too, and you might just be able to score a hotel room. Take a trip to Nice, St Tropez or Monte Carlo for added glamour.
