As anyone who works in Webland knows, the Internet is an ever-changing place. We’re beavering away relentlessly to offer new features on our site while making sure we listen to what you have to say.
In your responses to a previous post, you told us what was on your wish list for 2009. I’m happy to report that we’re working on almost all of those initiatives currently! Look out for newer functionality to hit soon.
In the meantime, we’ve released a couple of new features that we hope you like. A small change we’ve made is incorporating links from BBC News into our Destinations section. Now you’ll get news headlines when looking through many of our featured countries and all of the continents. (Check out current headlines for the USA, Spain, Zimbabwe and Pakistan, for example.) We also have a new travel module featured on BBC.com (sorry, Brits – it works only outside the UK).
We’re also trying to keep you up to date with relevant content. For example, London‘s a better value than ever – which is why we’ve put forward some ideas on the homepage on how to experience its delights while getting the most bang for the buck. We are also featuring a range of competitions and other fun activities to keep life interesting for you. And over in our sister blog at Lonely Planet labs, we’re breaking ground in our blog experiment – to give bloggers from around the world a voice on our site.
We hope you’re enjoying our offering, and we can’t wait until we can share more of what we’ve got. Keep up the great feedback, and let us know what more we can do for you.
