Sonam has excellent home-style Bhutanese cooking adapted to foreign tastes (ie without the chilli) and is popular with small groups. Momos (dumplings) are a speciality at Nu 25 to 40 and the shamu datse (mushroom, cheese and chilli) is excellent. No MSG is used here.

    it was ok.

    sholok does not recommend this,

    We went there to taste some 'local' food because the big hotels really lack those. The food at Sonam's was...ok. We asked for the non-chili version, that might have been the reason. Anyway, later our driver took us to a place right across the street from Sonam. It didn't even have a name, the signboard only says 'Hotel first floor' but food there was really good, the menu was diverse and it seemed like a place where local people come to eat.
