Name: Oli Pettigrew

Crowning achievement:
I got full marks in a spelling test when I was nine…some might say I peaked early. I still hold out for another easy spelling test… I must admit I'm not optimistic.
Super power:
Wye, speling of corse

It starts with a bit of harmless modelling then before you know it, you're on TV, hosting a weekly tech program. That's how it happened for Oli anyway. He started modelling in Singapore four and a half years ago and has since found himself hosting a variety of television programs such as the UN-backed environmental show Eco-4-the-World, World Cup Primetime, Technomax and Sony Style: Season Two to name a few.

Q & A

  • Is there any place that you haven't been to yet that you are dying to visit?

  • Mars…If movies and the West End shows are to be believed it'll be awesome - Arnold Schwarzenegger, ladies with three breasts and aliens playing rock and roll music, I mean COME ON, who WOULDN'T want to go?

  • What's the most unexpected local encounter you have had on your travels?

  • People in Vietnam recognising me, that was weird. Especially because we couldn't speak each other's languages. One particularly awesome meeting was with a 100-year-old Gurkha in Nepal who is one of the only few surviving Victoria Cross holders…I kind of got the feeling he could kill me with his thumb.

  • Which national cuisine most represents your personality and why?

  • British cuisine - because no matter how dull it gets, it always gets better when combined with copious amounts of beer.

  • Finish this sentence: The biggest surprise people have when they meet me is…

  • my ability to finish other people's sentences.

  • When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

  • A TV host, really. That, and a spelling champion.

  • Have you ever fallen in love with a destination, or in a destination?

  • Boracay in the Phillipines. One of the best beaches in the world. The sand is like talcum powder, the water is clear blue and the beer costs $1. A very romantic destination, that's why I got married there! The most exciting part is landing in the light aircraft. I would describe it, but I've had my eyes sealed shut both times… but it SOUNDS like a rush!
