Backpacking into belize

Hi there, fist post here (and first time) so be gentle on me. I'm from Australia btw
I'm backpacking from Tulum (where I am now) down into Guatemala (fly out of Antigua) and I was hoping I could get some information on busses/transport, good hostels and mostly heads up about dangerous places not to visit/handy safe tips.
I'm heading into Belize soon and would love information on getting from Chetumal onwards especially crossing the border (read you have to pay a entrance fee?) and the best…

Placencia - Caves Branch - Caye Caulker - 1 week advice

Apologies if there is a similar post out there, but I couldn’t find the answers I was looking for.

We are planning a weeks trip to Belize at the beginning of March, we’re primarily going to dive, but would also like to head into the jungly area for a bit also. Due to the lack of time we’ll have there and restrictions we’ll have on diving/flying we were thinking of heading straight to Placencia (we land at 11:30am), I see there are several flights down there – if we book an internal flight in…

Travel from Mexico to Belize

Hi--First time in the region and could use some insight into transportation planning. We'll be leaving Tulum mid Feb. and need to get to San Ignacio. On the ADO bus web page I don't see a scheduled route beyond Chetumal into Belize. Does anyone know differently? Have you done this? We considered renting a car for the whole trip but will spend 4 days later on Caye Caulker, so bus seems a good way to go. Thanks!

Skydiving in Belize

More adventurous travellers can now skydive in Belize.

In December 2014, a company began operation out of Placencia airport. I have more details, but won't publish them in case I'm accused of advertising and banished from the forum. I have posted details on the Belize Forum.

Traveling To Belize Beginning Of March But Have Questions

My first time to Belize and planning to spend 11 days. I arrive in the afternoon and plan to take a shuttle from the international airport to San Ignacio. Spend 3 full days in Cayo. On my 5th day, I am trying to get to Placecia from San Ignacio by air but it doesn't appear to be any flights that I can find. Are shuttles and/ or buses my only means? I had planned on spending 2 full days in Placencia then fly out on my 8 th day to Ambergris Caye and spend 2 full days there then take the water taxi…

Caye caulker accomadation

I'm travelling from Guatamala to cancun and thought I'd sample caye life for a few days as I'm so near. Caye caulker seems relaxed and easy and is convenient for the water taxi to chetumal so wondered if anyone can recommend a friendly relaxed place to stay . I usually spend about 60 U.S. night .. Also what times do the water taxis leave for chetumal... Thanks ..Mario.

Belize in August

Hi all,

A friend and I are looking for a Holiday destination for August. Belize is high on the list, especially for the diving. Now I am only concerned about the weather. I know the wet season starts in May until November. But it seems that August is drier than most wet months, especially in the North and on the coast.

Has anyone been to Belize in August? How was it? Would you recommend it?

Cheers

Guillaume

Suggestions and recommendations greatly appreicated

Hi team,

I planning to visit Belize for 30 days at the beginning of February. I am 39 and speak English but I'm trying to learn Spanish and would appreciate any thoughts/comments or suggestions you might have on my itinerary.

A website that caught my attention is http://www.teabelize.org/

First I plan to spend 10 days at the beach San Pedro / Caye Caulker adjusting to the climate, meeting people and relaxing. This is my holiday after all! Then I plan to visit Belize Zoo midway between Belm

Best snorkeling within couple hours of int'l airport

Considered Caye Caulker but not sure. Any suggestions? Ideally, I'd love Glovers Reef Atoll off Dangriger but we'll be coming from San Ignacio and will only have 2.5 days for ocean time. I've heard boats to and from the Atoll can be unpredictable and I'm afraid of missing our flight home!

Waiting to pick up my guide book from the library but would love advice from those who've been. Any great reefs near-ish to caye caulker? Other?

thanks and peace!
