I am having a decision quandary. I am traveling to Belize in August with a friend, she is 50 and I am 45. We have most of our itinerary set but are struggling to decide whether to stay in the town of San Ignacio or at a jungle lodge nearby/in broader Cayo. We will have three nights and 2 full days there and want to do the ATM and at least one Mayan ruin.
So a few questions:
1) Is San Ignacio a nice/fun town overall? Good restaurants, vibe, night life, nice architecture, etc?
2) What is the…
I wanted to pass this information on to fellow travelers interested in the Raggamuffin three-day/two-night sailing trip. The previous itinerary departed from Caye Caulker on day one and ended in Placencia on day three. The new itinerary, in addition to no longer staying on Tobacco Caye (stays on Ragga Caye instead), ends in Dangriga.
We are heading to Belize in February and our itinerary is this: arrive in BCE on Saturday morning, stay on Caye Caulker for three nights, depart…
My family and I are planning on going to Belize in Jan-Feb in 2017. We're turning 60 and our daughters are 28 and 26. I've looked at VRBOs on both Placencia and Ambergris Caye and am having a hard time deciding so would appreciate any feedback. I picked Belize so we could enjoy relaxing on the beach while also having the opportunity to enjoy the variety of activities - Mayan Ruins, zip lining, waterfalls, rainforest, and snorkeling. I want to have the option to do as little or as much as we…
Hey everybody! So i just got out of a rough breakup and am looking to travel for about a week to clear my mind. I am looking to explore but also have a nice, relaxing time at my hotel/resort. Here is what I am looking for:
-nice (willing to spend money for luxury)
-fun people i.e. not a romantic stay made for couples. I want to meet people to hang out with at the pool, beach, etc.
- Good location. Obviously Belize is not a large country so not too worried about it.
-Worth staying at a caye for a…
I will be making my first trip to Belize August 6-13th. Our group of 6 (two parents one couple early 30's and two mid 20's guys) will be staying at Jaguar Reef in Hopkins for the entire week. We are all fairly active/up for adventure off the beaten path and enjoying all that nature has to offer. At the same time, we have no problem enjoying a day lounging on the beach with some good drinks.
Flight gets into Belize City at 11:14am Saturday, right now we are debating on taking a bus or…
I'm going to be with two other friends coming down from Tulum into Mexico where we'll be spending about 5-6 days before flying out of BZE. Any recommendations?
Things we'd like to do/see -
At least one ruins site
Ambergris Caye (?)
Hike through caves and/or forests
Some city experience
Could also use some advice on how to get from Tulum to Belize, I've heard/read about some busses. Anyone who has actually done this have some first-hand advice?
We are a family divided over a 7 day trip in early August. I realize it is not much time to see Belize with a 10 and 6 year old and find some time to relax at the beach. We are planning to fly into Belize city and hope to see the Zoo and Mayan ruins but mostly want to spend some time at either AC or CC.suggestions on where to stay to hit zoo before heading AC or CC?
Thanks for any input on family travel here!
I am looking for suggestions on a 10 day trip to Belize. I am trying to understand the best transportaion options for a 2 travelers. I want to strike a balance between cost and time savings. I am all about taking in country flights if they help the flow of my trip. We have not settled on a specific itinerary yet and we are open to suggestions from experienced Belize travelers as this is our first trip to the country. We want to do a mix of jungle and coast/island. We where thinking we would wind…
