Hello all!
We're a group of 6 people travelling to Belize and we have doubts transportwise...
We are spending one night in Lamanai, then on the next day, visiting the ruins. Our ideal plan would be to travel from Lamanai to Cockscomb in the afternoon, so we could then visit the reserve during the day, and then travel to Belize city.

Is that feasable or impossible? Could we hire a driver or should we adapt to the buses and always go trough Belize city?
Thank you very much.

Hello!

Can anyone recommend a good jeep or scooter rental place? I would like to see the Altun Ha and Lamanai ruins and maybe go to the Crooked Tree Wildlife sanctuary. If I go to all three, I will want to rent a jeep. If I go just to Altun Ha, I think a scooter would be more cost effective.

Cheers!

Any information on knowledgable "rough guides" or tour operators at resonable price will help me a lot.
ALso, what what will be the best time of the year to visit ?

We were planning two week trip to Nicaragua this summer but went I went to buy our tickets last week the prices had gone up quite a bit. Seems like our new travel plan (based on airfares) is either Costa Rica (where we traveled pre parenthood) or Belize.

Suggestions for where to visit in Belize? We will be three (a couple in our 40s and a two year old). We have two weeks, and the ideal vacation would be split between lounging along the beach (maybe some snorkeling and diving) and spending time…

Hi,

I'm arriving in Belize City international airport in a few weeks at 10 AM and need to reach Hopkins by nightfall, party of 3 people. I'm trying to introduce my kids to affordable adventure travel - age 13 & 17, so was planning on staying in Dangriga with airbnb but the host just canceled, so it looks like Hopkins is my only affordable option. I was planning on taking James Bus from Belize City to Dangriga.

Any suggestions on getting from Dangriga to Hopkins? I think James bus also goes…

I'm flying into Guatemala City, spend time in Guatemala, then Belize and in the end spend 5 days in Mexico before flying back to Denmark from Cancun.
I know we will have to pay an exit fee when leaving Belize. Do you know whether you can py with US$ if needed? We will get a boat from Cae Caulker to Chetumal.

Upon arriving in Mexico do we pay a fee at the border, at the airport when leaving or will it be included in our flight (travelling with British Airways)?
Are there ATMs at the border so we…

I spent a bunch of time hanging out in the Belize forum before my trip and wanted to note a few things that folks seem to ask about, since I just returned two days ago. First, misterbee and hopefulist have good advice and are well-informed. (Thanks, you two. I had a wonderful trip!)

Money: you don't need to change any money before arriving if you have USD. They are used interchangeably with Belize $ throughout the country, and you may occasionally get USD back as change even if you pay in…
