I'm looking at two possibilities for our honeymoon and am wondering if anyone has stayed at either. I see a lot of reviews for Barefoot Beach but none for Bonita's Hibiscus. However, I believe Bonita's is pretty new. Any opinions about the locations? Leeside vs. on the reef side? We do want quiet and peaceful and want a view to the sea. Bonita's looks very peaceful and has a pool but Barefoot is literally right on the beach. (We would be in the ocean front suite.) Thank you so very much
The good news – Southwest Airlines begins flights to BZE from Houston. The bad news – the only flight arrives at 4:45 p.m., if it is on time. Sunset in late November is around 5:15 p.m. Ideally, I would like to work my way towards Tikal, but the latest flight to Flores leaves at 4:45, and there is no flight to SI on the day I arrive. Is it advisable to try to catch a bus to SI, given that I wouldn’t arrive at the BC bus station until after dark? Will shuttle services to SI…
I am aware that the US ask for proof of onward travel outside of North America. I have now read that Belize may look for proof of onward travel if entering by bus from Mexico.
Are the officials quite strict about this?
If this was the case, is the best way to book the cheapest ticket from somewhere near the border into Guatemala and would that suffice.
We are travelling on the fly and don't want to book stuff in advance in case we really like Belize and plan on staying longer.
Just a heads up...some very inexpensive flights (under $350 round trip!) from Hartford or NYC to Belize on Delta.
Will be formulating questions about our upcoming trip soon ;-)
Caracol seems like an interesting Maya site, but it seems you need to go on a tour to go there. Is it easy to find a tour to go with others from San Ignacio (as I'm travelling alone)? Any suggestions of tour company? What is the cost?
I'm planning on seeing Tikal, Yaxhá and posibly more mayan sites in Guatemala. Is it still worth trying to get to Caracol?
I have spent a lot of time planning our trip to Belize in mid-August. We are a family of 5, three young adult children, mostly we are very athletic. So far I have planned 4 nights in San Ignacio staying at Ka'Ana and then 4 nights in Hopkins.
I am thinking that we should rent a car so we have the most flexibility. Is that best?
First, I am getting no input on what we should do in the cayo. It seems that ATM is a must but other than that, the only mandate that I have is everyone wants to…
My twin daughters, 16 years old, and I arrived in Houston from San Francisco. We found at the gate that we need a notarized statement from their mother that it was OK for them to travel to Belize. We were kicked from the flight and had to have the document sent by FEDEX overnight.
Notification families traveling with minors is not documented anywhere. I saw no notice in Lonely Planet guide book for Belize, I saw no notice in United Airlines documentation, I saw no notice in Belize Tourism…
Hey fellow travelers!
Beginning of September I'm planning to go to Belize with 2 of my friends for 6 or 7 days and we are mainly interested in these three atolls from the topic. I'm mainly interested in diving and it looks like a perfect location for Belize's best diving spots.
Do you have any idea if the atolls are just all-inclusive resorts or is it possible to get any other accomodation there? And if a resort is the only solution, do you know if they do only packages or is it possible to book…
My friend and I are going to Belize the first week of August and we were wondering where to go and stay. We are on an extreme budget and will probably be staying in any youth hostels we can find. We love scuba diving, going to ruins, hiking in the rainforest, and exploring urban areas.
I might be bringing my own scuba gear... are there any places in the cities with lockers to hold onto my stuff so that I don't have to worry about people at the hostels stealing it?
We'd love any advice…
