Lonely Planet review for Du Phare

Tucked into the remains of one of Bruges' original town gates, this off-the-beaten-track tavern serves up huge portions of couscous (and offers free bread, a rarity in Belgium). But Du Phare is best known for its live blues/jazz sessions - check the website for dates. Bus 4 stops out the front.

    Jazzy dining by the water

    wingrelie recommends this,

This jazzy bistro by the water has a vibrant atmosphere with it's wooded Irish pub-like interior but still trendy enough for the hipster.

The moment you enter your eyes are drawn to the bar, where you can choose out of a great variety of beverages while you wait for your table. I recommend the local beer e.g. "Brugse Zot".

Once you're seated at your table it's obvious, everybody's in a good mood. Whether it's the family swinging to the weekly band or the romantics enjoying dinner with a view over water. People may forget they actually can eat there.

The food is so varied, it has good quality food for anybody. Ranging from steaks to kangaroo and dim sum to tapas. With all this the only negative side is that it may take some time to choose what you want to eat.
