Does anyone have any current info on the security situation around Bandarban and the surrounding villages? The advisories are full of old information it seems, and any firsthand information regarding this would be helpful.
Also can anyone tell me if I need to get permits in Chittagong before travelling to Bandarban, or can they be obtained once there?
I wanted to leave Dhaka for Kolkata by train but the train was full aready. Then I tried to find the international bus terminal, which should have been - as written in the Lonely Planet - somewhere around Mothijeel Road. Couldn't find it.
I want to arrive in Kolkata the day after tomorrow. As I understood it correctly I have two options - and questions:
1. Direct bus (2-3 companies): Where do I find the company's office to buy a ticket for Friday, 26th?
2. Jessore-Border-Kolkata: Can I…
I am flying into Dhaka beginning of Jan 2015 and want to get out of Bangladesch via the Friendship Train to Colcatta. Is a Permit still necessary for this? I have read older posts that is is no problem any more. Anyone has latest info?
I am German citizen and want to apply for Visa on Arrival. Do I need to have a proof of a flight out of Dhaka, as I was arriving via Airplane?
Anyone in Bangladesh, please.
Hello. I'm Malaysian and planing to travel to Bangladesh. Can I buy a motorcycle there and use it to travel to India and Pakistan as I cannot ride through Myanmar? Can I get my carnet de passage for my motorcycle?
I just want to ask about VOA arrival for Australians. The Canberra High Commission states that Australians need to apply for a visa in advance, however, I only have a few days in Australia before flying to Dhaka, and the High Commission has informed me that there won't be enough time to apply.
Have any other Australians had luck getting VOA?
I will going to Bangladesh next March. Can anybody say something about the safety in this region? The german ministry of foreign affairs warns about traveling there.
Maybe this is a dumb question.. but from what I understand, if you try to get a visa in advance with a US passport it is $160 and if you get it on arrival it is $50... so why would anyone bother to get one in advance??
I’d like to get your thoughts on routing for a proposed 3-week itinerary for Bangladesh starting mid-Feb, 2015. I’m a single American woman and plan to travel independently (except the Sundarbans trip)--mostly by bus for ease of not having to pre-book--boat and trains when possible.
My question is, assuming I start in Sundarbans, is it more efficient to travel in a clockwise direction, heading north to Bogra from Kulna, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Srimangal, Chittagong, Bandarban, Dhaka OR…
Just wondering if Bangladesh visa on arrival is full page or just a stamp.
My passport is almost full so most plan ahead!
Also, how is the cycling to travel around Dhaka?
As always, thanks for everyone's help!
I am sure there is laundry service in Dhaka outside of bigger hotels. I stay at the Al Razzaque by now but it seems that they don't have services like this. And I don't know where else to find it.
I am looking for a place where I could drop my 2 kilos and get them back clean the next day. Price per kilo not per piece. Do you have an address or tips for me?
