I'm interested in visiting Bangladesh, but I'm a bit restricted to visiting sometime during the monsoon. The plan is most likely to visit in mid-June (after Ramadan) for about one month, exiting through the north to Sikkim in India.

The question: will the monsoon rains be so heavy that going around and doing anything will be unpleasant? Will the weather severely limit the places that can be visited?

I'm pretty flexible about where I go, but I'm not interested in dealing with heavy rain all day…

Clothing

Hi,

I will be living in rural Bangladesh from September to December on a volunteer trip. I am a bit worried about what clothing will be considered appropriate particularly in the heat as I'm used to a cool climate. Are 3/4 length loose trousers/skirts ok or does they have to be completely to the ankle? If the trousers/skirt are loose does the top still have to be long enough to cover the bum or is a standard t shirt ok? I have tried googling online but i've found very few examples of…

ATM fees

Hi people! First forum question.

I'm moving to Bangladesh for 12 months. I'd like to get an ATM card (before leaving home) that'll allow me to get cash out with little or no fees. Is HSBC my best bet?

I'd be working in the Gulshan 2 area and I think that I'll probably be living there as well. What happened there last July is obviously making me very nervous. I know people say that terrorism happens everywhere, but the recent attacks in Bangladesh don't…

On May 1st, 2017, I was able to get a visa on arrival at the Benapole border crossing traveling from India into Bangladesh. I am an American, and the cost was $50. I was able to do it without any major issues though it took nearly three hours to complete.

I wrote about the entire process going into significant detail on my blog here: https://www.authentictraveling.org/benapole-border-crossing-bangladesh/

I also attempted to cross first at Changribandha (near Darjeeling, India) but they do not…
