I'm visiting Bangladesh in a couple of weeks and I'm hesitating about several options. I'm only staying 1 week and the first 3 days I'll stay in Dhaka. For the other 4 days the options are:
Cox's Bazar - a hotel near the beach.
Sylhet - Visiting a tea plantation.
Sundarbans - A visit to Sundarbans and posibly a trip by boat.
The preferred option by now is Cox's Bazar because it's cheaper but we'll really appreciate any suggestion, any recommendation about the hotel choice, any…
Hi there. I have a connection in Dhaka for a few hours, arriving at 05:10 and leaving at 11:35. I am planning to spend this time out of airport. I've never been to Bangladesh before and this can be the only chance. But I was many times to India so I am not going to be shocked))
I know that traffic is absolutely crazy and I can't risk to get to the city center and I dont really think I need it. I am not heading to see the best building, i am ok to see the worse one)) I just want to see anything…
It seems that I need to get a permit to go to Rangamati. How do I get it in Chittagong?
What documents do I need?
Is the office open on weekends?
P.S. There's a post from 5 years ago, so posting a recent one.
Trip to Bangladesh Nov 26 or 28 to Dec 16
I have done some research and initial planning ideas and now look for some input.
I would also like recommendations about pre-booking train tickets and Rocket ticket.
I would prefer to keep things about 2 1/2 weeks but am flexible. I would also prefer to fly as much as possible.
Day 1 - Arrive Dhaka from Kuala Lumpur in the evening. Nov 26 or 28
Day 2 - Dkaka, night Dhaka
Day 3 - Dhaka, Rocket to Khulna
Day 4 - Day trip to Bagerhat, night Khulna
Day 5,6,7 -…
Chittagong, the second largest city of Bangladesh and a busy international seaport, is an ideal vacation spot. Its green hills and forests, its broad sandy beaches and its fine cool climate always attract the holiday-markers.
Described by the Chinese traveler poet, Huen Tsang (7th century A.D) as "a sleeping beauty emerging from mists and water" and given the title of "Porto Grande" by the 16th century Portuguese seafarers. Chittagong combines remains true to both the descriptions even today…
My husband and I are headed to Bangladesh for a week on Monday and are super excited! We've organized a tour with a local guide and some of the transport includes local buses, specifically routes to Barisal/Bagerhat/Khulna and one overnight from Khulna to Dhaka. We're experienced travelers and would normally be cool with local buses but I'm a bit freaked out by what I've read in terms of fatal accidents and suicidal drivers.
If anyone can give any recommendations or insight that…
It is with a heavy heart that I am letting you know that Bangladesh's guardian angel Mahmud bhai (Mahmud Hasan Khan) is no more. He died of a heart attack in Bangladesh at local time 10:30 pm. Many of you have been greatly helped and informed by his advice and friendship. Many of you have visited Bangladesh on his recommendation, met up with him, stayed with his family and toured the country with his care and dedication all throughout. His contribution will never be matched ever again. Our…
I have searched the internet and this forum but I cannot find any info on land border crossings between India and Bangladesh on the northern borders of Bangladesh. Specifically we wish to cycle into Bangladesh at Mahendraganj then travel east to Sylhet and exit back into to India at Karimganj. We do have a Bangladesh visa and a multiple entry Indian visa. Are those border crossings open to UK citizens? We will be doing this within a month.
Is there anything we should see on that route? Does…
