A powerful earthquake of magnitude 6.9 has struck northeast Myanmar near the town of Mawlaik, with damage and injuries reported from Bangladesh and Assam, Manipur and Bengal in India. News is patchy but we'll post information as we have it.
I'm off to Bangladesh shortly and pretty excited as I will be visiting the village where I lived for a couple years, Faila Bazaar. Faila is pretty much right in between Mongla and Khulna. I'm looking for a place to stay in either of these places, but not finding anything I'm really interested in. Do note that I'm travelling with a 9 year old child - though she is low maintenance and doesn't need anything special. We would like to stay somewhere clean and reasonably priced. Any suggestions?
Hello! I will have about 3 to 4 days free to travel outside of Dhaka prior to a work trip later this month (April), and I'm considering either Sylhet or Srimangal - possibly both but seems too tight in a limited about of time, especially since I'd prefer to have free time to relax too.
Which of the two towns would you recommend? Is one easier than the other for joining small-group day tours? I'll be traveling alone and figure it's cheaper and safer to explore in a group.
If Sylhet, is it…
Period to period, where the nature of the shift change, to play a mysterious fog, clouds and rain. God love him with all created a wonderful paradise.
This paradise is somewhere else, Rangamati district, Bangladesh.
If luck is with you, the whole 24 hours but could be found in three different forms of nature. Can forget that moment, all the fatigue of travel. Never too hot, a little later, after a sudden rain, and some may be wrapped around the blanket of fog. The solar lamps at night when…
Hi, Just bought an air ticket to Dhaka for 18 days in May. Looking at the websites it looks like a VOA should be no problem. But it seems to only be $51 whereas getting a tourist visa from the Bangladeshi embassy costs $160. This makes me uneasy: why would anyone pay that extra ninety dollars?

I'm considering travelling to Bangladesh for a month in July or August. I know that it's the monsoon season, but I am wondering if it is still doable.
Has anybody had any dealing or know about the following company:
Taj Cassilina, 2nd floor. 25 Gulshan Avenue, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
I am in he process of booking various items of a trip with them and all seems ever so slow that I am beginning to get a little concerned.
Thank you for any feedback.
Hello, I am overnighting for two nights and Sylhet and I'm not really sure how to get from Sylhet to Sreemangal and back to take advantage of the fabulous cycling and tea plantation tours that are available in Sreemangal. The fellas that work at the front desk of the hotel I'm staying at didn't tell me anything encouraging--so far, it seems like it will be an expensive hassle to make it happen.
Any tips? Thanks in advance.
I was wondering if anyone had visited Rumer Godden's childhood home in Narayanganj, southeast of Dhaka?
I'd like to visit when I'm back in Dhaka in 10 days time, but I'm having trouble finding an address. I'm not sure if just asking around will work in this case! If anyone has any knowledge on the location of the house (I know it's by the river) that would be great. Thanks in advance!
