Travelling through Bangladesh over Eid

Hi everyone, i will be in Bangladesh for work before and after Eid. That leaves me with a whole week free to travel around...but i'm worried everything will be shut because of the Eid holidays. Does anyone know what i can expect? Will tour operators still be working?

Also, is anybody else going to be traveling through Bangladesh 5-11 October and wanting to do a tour of the Sunderbans together? I'm an Australian woman in mid-30s looking for other women, couples or mixed groups to do a budget or…

Barisal to Chittagong

Hi,
next year I will return to Bangladesh because two years ago I lost my heart overthere. This time I will visit the Northwest and hopefully meet the people on the chors.
Afterwards I would like to go Barisal and surroundings. Has anyone tips what to do and see in Barisal.
From there I will go to Chittagong. Is that possible and what is the easiest way? Can I go straight to Alikadam?

Looking forward to your answers!

Willem

Bangladesh road map

Hi,
I'll be cycling around Bangladesh shortly but I couldn't find a suitable map, whether in bookshops nor on the internet. The only one I have is the Nelles map India North East & Bangladesh, which is really too small (scale 1:1,500,000). Does anyone know about a more detailed map? Thanks

People for Sundarban-Tour in November

Hello travellers,
we (an east-german couple) wan`t to visit the Bangladeshi side of Sundarban-Forrests in End of November 2014. We just contacted some Tour-Operators for a 3 or 4 day-trip. As we could rent the whole boat it would be wise to share this vessel with some nice people. Maybe you are around at this time and want to see Sundarbans too. So, just contact us.

Security situation Bangladesh now and early November

Hello,
I had to call off my trip to Bangladesh because of the somehow violent, nationwide strikes ("hartal") last year, but I've not given up on the idea of visiting this beautiful country! I'm thinking of going this November.
What is the security situation like and is it likely that there will be some sort of troubles again?
thanks

Booking domestic flights in Bangladesh

Hello
I would like to book some domestic flights from Dhaka to Jessore. I am particularly interested in United rather than Novoair or Regent because they have morning flights, which would suit me better. However, the United site will not accept my foreign credit card. Does anyone have any recommendations about travel agents I could use to book these flights?
Thanks
Doug

Back from Bangladesh : Helpful people

Hi,

I've just spent almost two weeks in Bangladesh. I'm a French man of 36. Was in Dhaka, Srimongol and area and Barisal and area.

I have kind of experciences in travelling around for about 17 years and the first thing that i want to communicate is Bangladesh is impressive by his people. Bangladeshi people is the first "must see" of this country if we have to chose one. Helpful, curious, interested, polite are very common. And this is very appreciable in a country which can be easily…

tickets for the rocket

Hi,

Has somebody travelled on the rocket recently? I am looking for the 1st class cabin tickets.
How did you buy the tickets. It appears there is no online booking and you need to purchase the tickets way in advance in the BIWTA office.
Some travel agencies offer booking services as well. Has somebody tried these?
I read in some travel forums that you can book in the office as the 1st class is usually not sold out...does anybody know?
I am travelling in Bangladesh the first 3 weeks in January…
