Hi all, still not sure whether I'll be heading to Bangladesh or not, it's one of many options I'm considering and won't actually decide till just before going but I was wondering, are the police still forcing tourists to get police escorts? And if so is this just in Dakha or throughout the country? Any info/thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Hi, I'm planning to go to Bangladesh for Bishwa Ijtema next January. Can anyone confirm me the main dates are 13-15? How can I find an accomodation? I've been to Maha Kumbh Mela in 2013 and there were many camps advertising on the web, this time finding info seems kind of difficult.
Also, I'm solo woman traveller, do you think it could be dangerous/could hurt the sensibility of pilgrims?
Thanks in advance!!
Visiting Bangladesh in Nov - am wanting to do The Rocket from Dhaka to Hularhat - LP has details of office but does not indicate how far ahead you need to book. Anybody can advise how far ahead do you need to book (that day or when ever). Any online options to book?
I'm going to Bangladesh in november...I'm going to take visa on the arrival in the airport...I've been told that it's possibile and relatevely easy...then I will need to extend for 2 weeks more..do you know if it's easy?
Also I want to visit Chittagong...do I have to do a special permit?where?
Thanks a lot....
I am going to visit Bangladesh again, in a few weeks. This time, I would be happy to do a short 1-3 days hike, covering some wild nature, tribes, culture, buddhist temples etc.
Does anyone can suggest any nice trial, which I can do without any additional permit, on my own, using a gps device (if you can provide the trial file, it would be fantastic)?
Tried already to find something on wikiloc, but there is not much of trials uploaded, most of them from Badarban, where permit struggles…
I'll be arriving in Bangladesh on Oct 26, and plan to travel around for roughly a month (assuming that the 30-day visa-on-arrival still applies, and that I'm granted one).
From what I've read, travelers to Bangladesh are few and far between. And unfortunately, the latest Lonely Planet guide isn't released until the end of this year, so I'm stuck with an edition that is four years old (this always happens!) which doubtless contains a lot of outdated information.
I'm just wondering if…
Bangladesh is a riverine country. Lots of rivers are crossing and flowing onto this country from East to West, North to South. So it is the lifeline of this country. In this point from Dhaka to Barisal water path there are five to six mighty rivers are flowing like Buriganga, Sitalakhya, Meghna, Padma, Kirtonkhola and so on. Usually all kinds of passenger water vessel move one destination to other in night time. But this is the first time there is an opportunity for the Traveler to cruise in Day…
I'm visiting Bangladesh in a couple of weeks and I'm hesitating about several options. I'm only staying 1 week and the first 3 days I'll stay in Dhaka. For the other 4 days the options are:
Cox's Bazar - a hotel near the beach.
Sylhet - Visiting a tea plantation.
Sundarbans - A visit to Sundarbans and posibly a trip by boat.
The preferred option by now is Cox's Bazar because it's cheaper but we'll really appreciate any suggestion, any recommendation about the hotel choice, any…
Hi there. I have a connection in Dhaka for a few hours, arriving at 05:10 and leaving at 11:35. I am planning to spend this time out of airport. I've never been to Bangladesh before and this can be the only chance. But I was many times to India so I am not going to be shocked))
I know that traffic is absolutely crazy and I can't risk to get to the city center and I dont really think I need it. I am not heading to see the best building, i am ok to see the worse one)) I just want to see anything…
