I’d like to get your thoughts on routing for a proposed 3-week itinerary for Bangladesh starting mid-Feb, 2015. I’m a single American woman and plan to travel independently (except the Sundarbans trip)--mostly by bus for ease of not having to pre-book--boat and trains when possible.
My question is, assuming I start in Sundarbans, is it more efficient to travel in a clockwise direction, heading north to Bogra from Kulna, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Srimangal, Chittagong, Bandarban, Dhaka OR…
Just wondering if Bangladesh visa on arrival is full page or just a stamp.
My passport is almost full so most plan ahead!
Also, how is the cycling to travel around Dhaka?
As always, thanks for everyone's help!
I am sure there is laundry service in Dhaka outside of bigger hotels. I stay at the Al Razzaque by now but it seems that they don't have services like this. And I don't know where else to find it.
I am looking for a place where I could drop my 2 kilos and get them back clean the next day. Price per kilo not per piece. Do you have an address or tips for me?
I'm thinking about maybe going next month to Bangladesh for a few
weeks and from there to go India. does anyone knows
if it possible to get an Indian visa in Dhaka and how long
will it take?
I hope some of you can provide me with a little bit more information about visa applications. I will be travelling to Dhaka next february, planning to stay for 4 months. And i'll be going to do research over there, all guided by my university in the Netherlands. At the moment I have problems figuring out the options with regard to my visa. As far as the embassy could tell me: ill have to apply for a research visa (with acceptance letter of Dutch and Bangladeshi hosts), and then i should…
since I got so much info from fellow travellers in this forum, I thought of writing a trip report on my blog about my last trip to Bangladesh
here is the link with tips and advice http://www.tripiteasy.it/bangladesh-il-paese-dellospitalita-e-del-sorriso/ (it is in italian, but pretty easy to translate)
Please visit this country and be open to get in touch with the beautiful and amazing bengalese people !
Have a nice trip
I want to visit Banbaban. Is a permit necessary to do this? I'm there for one day and want to visit a few villages. If a permit is necessary, do they check this? Is it possible to get it at we in Chittagong?
Thanks in advance!
Hi, I'm going to be travelling to Kuakata from Barisal on the 16th Dec and looking to travel around the south of Barisal district for a week or so. Are there any other travelers keen on meeting up at some point, or have suggestions of what is best to do in the area?
Cheers for the help :)
January 2013 I was in Calcutta and went to the Bangladeshi consulate there to ask for a tourist visa for the country. I had previously, a few weeks before, gone to the Reception Desk at the same consulate to ask how I should proceed with this request. They politely advised me to write a cover letter to the application form that they gave me, stating my family connection to the country, my birthplace of Chittagong General Hospital, and so on. I did this. However, when I returned to Calcutta…
