You wouldn’t guess there would be a boutique hotel here, but the extremely comfortable Hotel Shoushi stands across from the Ghazanchetsots Cathedral. It has 12 very tasteful, spacious rooms, lots of interesting artwork and a good restaurant.
English-speaking owner Sarasar (Saro) Saryan is an enthusiastic host and knows much about Shushi’s history. His old home has a garden and large rooms.
Armen Rakedjian, a Frenchman, runs this B&B out of his apartment in upper Shushi. Armen speaks French, English and Armenian and is a mine of information on the area. His building is right next to the corner where the marshrutka terminates.
The plushest hotel in town, open since 2007, is right on the main square, near the Presidential Palace and Parliament. Amenities include fitness centre, sauna, cable TV (with BBC news) but there is no internet.
