I am planning a 2 week summer holiday for my family in Austria but could use some advice. It is going to be a sightseeing/walking holiday and we are hoping to stay in 3 or 4 places, mainly in the countryside, but including a couple of nights in Vienna. Places we would definitely like to visit are:
Can anyone tell me where would be good to stay to visit these places, and is there anything we shouldn't miss.
I met Kate (I think thats her name) and her friend on Sunday, 28 August 2016. I was traveling from Washington, DC to Greece with an overnight layover at the Vienna Airport. They were returningt to Vienna from a 2-day trip to Berlin. We met at the train station. They took the time to provide me directions to a hotel and tourist spots. We did not exchange information, but believed we would meet again. She believed that people usually meet twice in a life time. It would be nice to meet her again…
I bought a eurail austria pass and will be using it to travel from Vienna to Salzburg. From Salzburg to Innsbruck and then again from Innsbruck back to Vienna. Do I need to reserve seats for this? Because I already paid quite a lot for the pass and reserving seats on these 3 routes will add significantly to the cost.
I'm planning an unexpectedly last minute trip (as in leaving in less than a week!) and feel woefully underprepared in terms of my itinerary/planning. Current plan is to fly into Budapest and spend several days, then train over to Vienna for two days and do an overnight trip to Salzburg. I've got an extra day to play with there.
I love cities and historical sites, but would love to take in some great Alpine views and a good hike. I'm young and in good shape but won't have time to do any sort of…
Hi, unfortunately at least 2 of the huts on the recommended stages 19-24 of the Adlerweg are going to be closed in late September so we have had to have a re-think.
We have 6 full days walking available and are looking at either stages 7/8 - 12 of the Adlerweg or the Stubai trek.
Can anyone offer any insight please - or any other suggestions for 6 days of hiking - our flights are into and out of Innsbruck. We are leaning towards a hut to hut walk as it's late in the season.
My husband and I are planning a trip to Vienna in late February / early March (possibly May) Wondering if anyone has any favorite day trips from Vienna? We would be really excited to go to Salzburg or Budapest during our time there. Which would be better? We are open to all kinds of activities, just would like to know the best experiences. Links would be great for the tours! :) Thanks!
I will be in Vienna in early October and I'm looking for hotel recommendations. I will only be there for two nights and traveling on my own. I'll be arriving from Prague via train.
I'm not looking for a hostel, but I am low-maintenance and don't need anything all that fancy. The big thing for me is access to the sites and close enough to transit options as I will be trying to do a lot in the two days I'm there, and I also have a morning flight so getting to the airport without a lot of…
We are heading over to Ireland for a wedding in mid April next year and plan on going over to either Austria or Spain for about 2 weeks after it. We will have an 8 and 9 year old with us as well. Would like to do some canyoning and hiking whilst over there as well as some kids activities. Also are you able to swim Gruner See that time of year?
We don't want to do the major cities just the country towns and their surrounds plus local quizine as we will have a hire car for trip. Any sugestions
somewhat awkward question but abit worried thou, i am flying on KLM from Singapore and was afraid to check in my baggage coz my main destination is Tirana Albania and a non schengen country, KLm do not fly to Tirana and i have to take a separate flight and that will be Austrian Air and Austrian is not star alliance nor one world for KLM and so my baggage can only be send until vienna airport and i have about 3 hours or abit less to recheck in my baggage in vienna airport...i am…
So I'm looking for a good medium distance hiking trail in Switzerland, or possibly Austria or Germany. I am moderately experienced, and looking for something that would take about a week, or somewhere near 100 miles would be good. The thing is, I will have additional gear with me that I will need to leave behind at a hostel because it is too heavy to hike with. Because if this, I was thinking a loop of some kind would be good so I could leave my bags at a hostel for a few days or something…
