  1. Hofkäserei Robert Paget

From Krems the Weinstrasse Kremstal (Krems Valley Wine Rd; B35) takes you northeast. About 2km past Gedersdorf – just before Hadersdorf train station – veer off right under the railway line and immediately left to Diendorf, where you find Hofkäserei Robert Paget. Here Robert Paget produces Austria’s finest mozzarella cheese from buffalo, as well as goat’s cheese. You can buy from the shop and eat it outside where the buffalo roam.

    Spittelberg

Occupying the charming cobblestoned streets of the Spittelberg quarter, this market is traditionally the most beloved of the Viennese. Stalls sell quality arts and crafts, but not at the cheapest prices. No matter what the temperature, you’ll find people crowded around gluhwein stalls, especially outside Lux and Plutzerbräu.

  3. Rathausplatz

This is easily the biggest and most touristy Christmas market in Vienna, held on the square in front of the Rathaus (town hall). Most of the Christmas gifts on sale are kitschy beyond belief, but the atmosphere is lively and the gluhwein just keeps on flowing.

  4. Karlsplatz

The Karlsplatz market mainly has stalls selling arty gifts and is situated close to the Karlskirche. People flock here to crowd around flaming metal barrels, clutching their cup of gluhwein.

Wein & Co is arguably the best place to buy wine in Vienna; prices are extremely competitive, the selection hard to beat and the concentration of New World wines is impressive.
