Hoher Markt wurstelstand is the best in Vienna
gavroun recommends this,
The Hoher markt wurstelstand is the most widely known in Vienna. The locals swear by it. The food there is much better than any other wurstelstand that I sampled in Vienna. I spent six months living in the city and tried many other wurstelstands, but I kept coming back to Hoher Markt. The sausages are served sliced with a peice of bread on the side. My favorite way to order them was as a "hotdog". For a hotdog they cut the end off of a long roll, stick it on a heated spike to toast the inside, squirt any ketchup or mustard directly inside the roll, stuff the sausage down inside the bun, and top it with the cut off end. Its goooood! You can then hold it upright and eat it without any spillage of toppings, since they are on the inside of the bun. Kasekrainer messy? I beg to differ. Do NOT order 'Eitrige mit an Buckl' . Just don't. My Austrian friends decided it would be good if I tried an austrian specialty and ordered me the leberkase. Well, it is neither liver or cheese. Its horse. Everyone had a good laugh at my expense when it was revealed I was eating "black beauty" as they called it. If you want a hotdog say hotdog mit (whichever sausage you would like). So hotdog mit Kasekrainer, or Bratwurst. The Hoher Markt wurstalstand is only closed between 5am and 7am, and is a short walk from the U4 Swedenplatz station.
