Vienna

Middle Eastern, Israeli restaurants in Vienna

  1. A

    Maschu Maschu

Zippy service, a relaxed atmosphere, and delicious felafels, hummus and salads are the keys to Maschu Maschu’s success. This branch on Rabensteig, with its meagre number of tables, is better used as a takeaway joint, while another branch in Neubau is best for sit-down meals.

  2. B

    Neni

Some of Naschmarkt’s ‘stands’ take on the proportions of the Belvedere. Neni is no exception. The area downstairs is mostly used as a cafe and bar, and upstairs is a main eating area where tasty delights mostly have a Middle Eastern focus. Dishes such as caramelised aubergine with ginger and chilli (€9) are served alongside expertly prepared lamb chops with truffle-laced polenta (€14) or a pulse ragout with cranberries and rice (€9.50). Tables can be at a premium most nights, so reserve ahead or drop by outside prime time. Breakast is served until 2pm.

  3. C

    Maschu Maschu II

This second branch of the Maschu Maschu takeaway in the Innere Stadt is a fully fledged restaurant with sunny streetside seating – when the weather’s playing along – and a menu loaded with lamb dishes. Punters looking out for Vienna’s best felafel should drop by here first for some of the best around.
