Lonely Planet review for Café Sperl
With its gorgeous Jugendstil fittings, grand dimensions, cosy booths and unhurried air, Sperl is one of the finest coffee houses in Vienna. And that’s to say nothing of a menu that features Sperl Tort, a mouth-watering mix of almonds and chocolate cream. Grab a slice and a newspaper, order a strong coffee, and join the rest of the patrons people-watching and daydreaming.

Expensive tourist trap
m00d1e does not recommend this,
As Cafe Sperl was recommended in Lonely Planet's 'Europe on a Shoestring', we expected to find character, charm, and a good value menu. While this cafe has plenty of character and charm, the food and drinks are pricey, and not particularly good quality. So beware!
The cafe was bustling with tourists (many carrying their Lonely Planet guidebook).
pricy
This isn't a cafe where you can sit and relax for an afternoon - the waiters pressure you to settle your bill as quickly as possible. There are quirkier and better value cafes in Vienna.
