Lonely Planet review for Meierei im Stadtpark

Attached to Steirereck im Stadtpark, Meierei im Stadtpark serves a bountiful breakfast until noon, with set breakfasts costing from €18.50 to €22.50. Between 11.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday only, it does a selection of Viennese classic fare (mains €9.50 to €14.50) with unusual twists, some based around fresh vegetables. It’s most famous, though, for its goulash (weekdays only) and selection of 120 types of cheese. A four-course menu (€39) is served from 5pm weekdays and from 11.30am on weekends.

    THE gourmet restaurant in Vienna

    beatingthetrack recommends this,

Steirereck is not just "a" gourmet restaurant, it is "the" restaurant! It simply ranks above the top of the topend restaurants. The Steirereck is run by a family that knows how to realise gourmets' dreams. Of course they offer premium wine (international & Austrian) and whatever you want to combine with an outstanding eating-experience (cigarrs, spirits).
During the day it is nice to have lunch or coffe-break in the "Meierei" which is a part of the building connected to a fine, sunny terrace in summer. This is also a nice opportunity if you do not want to spend a fortune, but get a little impression what excellent Austrian cuisine is like. For this try coffe & a sweet Austrian dish (€25 will do for that).
Generally "The Steirereck" mixes Austrian and nouvelle-cuisine with a cool impact of molecular-cuisine. There is some good reasons why this restaurant got 4 "hats“ (german word: "Hauben") by Gault Millau, 1 star by Michelin, 99 points by A la Carte and 3 stars by Falstaff (Austrian gourmet-magazine). So it is one of the top-players in this high-quality, but also pricy league.
If you want to enjoy a reasonable menu with some fine wine you should calculate €120-150 per person. So, you see, experiencing "Steirereck" is not something odd. It is perfect for a special occation like birthdays, wedding days... or mayby the place to ask someone to marry you. If you are frightend now: Keep in mind that you will still spend less money than with Jamie Oliver/London, but get better quality out of it.
Opening times: Mon – Fri 11:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Take care to make a reservation by phone or via wien@steirereck.at
You should dress up nicely, which means wearing some sort of serious cloth. Do not go in in your backpacking-traveller outfit.
