Lonely Planet review for Palais Palffy
The Palais Palffy’s stunning baroque Figarosaal (Figaro Hall) is a venue for Mozart and Strauss performances. Mozart himself performed here as a child in 1762, and although the music isn’t of the same quality as that of the Philharmonic, it’s lively and enthusiastic. Performances start at 8pm daily. It’s also home to one of Vienna’s most opulent clubs.

STAY AWAY FROM PALAIS PALFFY - IT IS A TOURIST TRAP
carlzp does not recommend this,
Contrary to the description by Lonely Planet - there is no 'stunning Figarossal' although I can agree that the music is not the same quality as that of the Philharmonic - it is disgraceful!
I cannot advise you strongly enough to stay away from Palais Pallfy. This is the website...http://www.classic-concerts.at/index_en.php.
Tickets are also sold by men dressed up in red coats outside all the main attractions - that should have been the first clue - STAY CLEAR!
They are an absolute tourist trap - you can pay upwards of 68 euros per ticket (minimum of 38 euors) - and the performance is above a nightclub in a very run down building. It was like going to watch a school play - of primary school students. The hall was tiny - there was NO atmosphere, no lighting, no accoustics - no anything! The musical performance was average (at best) but certainly not an 'orchestra of known musicans' - the ballet performances were a joke and the opera singer (yes - just one) was committed but lacking in any talent!
Seriously - stay away! It is a production run by sleazy non-Austrian men that should be shut down immediately - something I am currently working on if its possible! Although in a free world, I doubt I will have much sucess - so this warning may be the best I can do!
STAY AWAY!
