Kaiser Trail information
Lonely Planet review
Kitzbühel makes a terrific base for walking in summer, with scores of well-marked trails, including the 15km Kaiser Trail with superlative views of the jagged Kaisergebirge massif. You can pick up a comprehensive Wanderwegeplan (hiking map) for €1 at the tourist office or visit www.kitzbuehel.com for themed walk suggestions. If you’d prefer some company, the tourist office organises guided half-day hikes with English-speaking Engelbert and Madeleine, daily at 8.45am (summer) or 9.45am (winter), which are free for Gästekarte holders.
The Kitzbüheler Alpen Summer Card covers 29 lifts and cable cars. Even better value if you hike only in the immediate Kitzbühel area is the Flex-Ticket .
