Lonely Planet review
Rooms in the four-star Grüner Baum are tastefully furnished without going overboard on decor to impress; three suites have enormous patios to the lake, and doubles have smaller balconies large enough for seating, making this the ideal place for romantic lakeside sojourns.
Our independent authors have visited Seehotel Grüner Baum and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Hallstatt.

First mentioned in 1700, the fully renovated hotel offers a historic ambience, which has already served as a backdrop to several movies. Empress Sisi, the Austrian author Adalbert Stifter, Agatha Christie and many other personalities have stayed at this hotel.
Seehotel Grüner Baum faces the historic market square on one side, while the other side of the building opens up towards the lake and features a terrace.
Every day, the restaurant Zum Salzbaron serves freshly caught fish from the lake.
Parking is possible for a charge in the P1 parking area outside the town. From there, free shuttle bus to the hotel is available.
Please note that the centre of Hallstatt is a car-free zone. You need to park your car on the P1 parking outside the town, which can be reached through a tunnel. Additional costs apply (please see Parking Facilities).
A shuttle service to the hotel on arrival and departure is available free of charge.
