I am planning on spending approx a week or so in Austria (approx early June) and want to spend the time possibly in 1 or 2 small towns (away from the cities, although not opposed to a day or 2 in Salzburg or Innsbruck as I will be coming in/out via one of these). I want to do a good mix of some short and long day hikes/excursions, and was wondering where would be best for this. I've had a look at Halstatt and identified what seems like some good hikes/walks. However wanted to get some…
Am from India - & This is my first trip to Europe and i would be visiting Austria from Budapest. I and the wife have 5 nights in Austria. Needed help on the following points

- Considering we would be visiting from Budapest, should we break the journey at Salzburg & spend 1 night there before moving early morning to Salzkammergut ? or should…

I have a romantic dinner organised to celebrate, however she has always said how she to be proposed to earlier rather than late in the evening (because if it is one of the best days of her life she wants to spend as much time celebrating).
However i have been doing heaps of research online but struggling to find a place that would be perfect to pop the question. I want…
Just in case anyone has missed this - there is very little snow in most parts of eastern Austrian (in particular the Enns valley - Schladming and Co) and lift operations have not started in most places. If you are planning to come skiing in the near future, check your destination web camera - you might just be lucky. The situation is apparently a little better in the west of the country.
I am going to Vienna with my wife in January, and we need to know which area is not expensive and safe to stay for 2 days only.
Of course we prefer an area close to the Vienna's attractions.
Please reply with your recommendation.
Your ideas will be greatly appreciated,
