    Lonely Planet review

This welcoming family-run Pension is just a 15-minute stroll southwest of the Altstadt. It's set in vine-strewn gardens and housed in a gorgeous 17th-century chalet full of creaky floors and family heirlooms. The chunky pinewood and florals in the country-style rooms are in keeping with the character of the place. Take bus 1, 4 or 5 to Moosstrasse.

Our independent authors have visited Haus Wartenberg and selected this as one of our recommended accommodation in Salzburg.

    Description provided by property

The traditional Haus Wartenberg, originally built in 1654, is located in the heart of Salzburg, only 500 metres from the Mirabell Palace. It offers free Wi-Fi and free public parking.

Guests of the Haus Wartenberg can enjoy the breakfast buffet either in the cosy restaurant in front of the open fire place, or in the quiet courtyard, shaded by huge, old trees.

Several bus lines going to all parts of the city stop only 200 metres from Haus Wartenberg.

The very centre of Salzburg with sights like the Hohensalzburg Fortress, the Festive Hall and the Getreidegasse can all be reached within a 15-minute walk.
