Good Fortune Roast Duck House- William St. Northbridge

    ymcardle recommends this,

Food - cantonese style dishes with roast meats a specialty
Service - can be haphazard & off hand
Atmosphere - crowded, noisy & full of food smells
    BYO

Here's a restaurant with authentic Hongkong style roast meats, noodles & Cantonese style foods. It is easy to central & easy to find though parking along William St can be a tad difficult at peak meal times.
As the name suggests, its specialty is roast duck & for one to have a delicious cheap meal at around $10, it's hard to beat. On the other hand, a group of 10 to 12 could sit down around a round table to have a grand banquet or steamboat dinner from $25 per head.
It can get packed at mealtimes so being early or making a reservation is the way to ensure a place.
It is on my list of frequented roast meats restaurants in Perth but have failed a few times to get in without a reservation.

Best duck this side of Peking ($45 for two)

    w3ap recommends this,

I've eaten some Peking duck in my time. From the China-town restaurants of West London, to the most Peking of Peking ducks in, well, Peking (Beijing). But now I've come across some duck in the Asian precinct of Perth's Northbridge... Good Fortune Roast Duck House. Good fortune indeed for those who are lucky enough to be told about it.

It's no jade garden, but just like in the real China, places like these are popular with those in the know - not because of the trendy location or the fashionable interior design, but because of the food. The sweet, sweet food.

My first visit saw us share a Peking Duck (for two) for $45, and I'm sorry readers but this is all I've ordered from the menu since. I've seen some crunchy crackle-wrapped pork dishes and steaming whole fresh fish being shared by the frequent large friend/family groups... but for me I come to the Roast Duck, I walk past the fish tanks, past the live crabs and crayfish and sit down for some roast duck.

You may not get the traditional third (usually first) course of duck bones in brine, but the two-course special of 'make 'em youself' crispy skin roast duck avec pancakes and shaved spring onion/cucumber/pepper and a thick hoisen sauce, followed by a small mountain of duck and noodles (or rice) is way more than enough to ensure you can save some for lunch tomorrow (you won't even have to ask for your doggy bag!)

Super family friendly, busy (in a good way), excellent service... and did I mention it's BYO?
