Lonely Planet review for Matsuri

You’ll feel a bit like a carp in a fish tank here – floor-to-ceiling glass runs the perimeter of this large, long-standing Japanese restaurant. The tempura udon with sushi set ($20) is enough to feed two salarymen.

    A Japanese Experience

    darmar recommends this,

When we first visited Perth, we found it to be a place that welcomes people from all parts of the world. In our first week, we found a myriad of international cuisines, offering everything from authentic Japanese food to every day American fast food choices. Matsuri's fresh, innovative and meticulous food presentation won our loyalty after a mere visit. The staff greets you as you come in, and as you leave, they wish you good-bye in Japanese. The restaurant offers a variety of choices, so we try something different everytime we visit Perth.
The location of the restaurant in the CBD, makes this place a must-see where we take our friends and associates for a relaxing and authentic Japanese experience.

    Delicious!

    pinkangel recommends this,

I tried this restaurant to get a change from the usual 'sushi train' Japanese places I had been to in the past. It did not disappoint, as the food was delicious. I took along 5 friends, some of who were not big on eating anything other than 'pub food' and even they loved the food, so I think it is safe to say it caters to many tastes.
The nori rolls were delicious as a starter and the tempura was made to perfection. The main meals were also really good and left us all feeling satisfied. They even had pots of warm sake to enhance the whole experience.
The only downside was that it was incredibly busy and we did feel a little packed in like sardines. It also meant that we didn't get served that quickly. However, this was only a minor thing and didn't really affect our overall rating of the place. The atmosphere was great and I was in good company so even in between dishes we had a great time.
One quirk that we found quite amusing was that both of the walls facing the streets (its on a central Perth corner) are totally glass and the restaurant floor is set down into the ground. This means that you are at perfect 'bum level' with everyone on the street!

All in all I thought it was a great place and wont be hestitating to go back!
