Lonely Planet review for Soto Espresso
Modern Soto opens onto the street to welcome its inner-city crowd, from stay-at-home dads to bleary-eyed students. The lime-green banquette is a great spot to watch all the comings and goings, and the large croque - monsieur ($10) will cure that super-sized hangover.

Nightowls and Party People Take Note...
champagne_socialist recommends this,
There are few things in this world powerful enough to raise my brother from his bed before 11am. He's a nightowl and always has been. Even his wife has stopped trying to wake the sleeping beast before he's good and ready.
Thank God for Soto Espresso! I know that if I absolutely must get a hold of him before midday, the only way to go is to schedule a meeting with him at Soto! With a pair of dark sunglasses and one of the finest Long Macchiatos in all of Australia, he's ready to face the day anew. And if the night before has been a particularly heavy one for His Royal Highness the King of Slumber, the Eggs Benedict with a generous helping of Hollandaise on thick cut toast is always sure to draw a smile from his drooping drawers!
Sitting in the cavernous front room which opens out onto the street, any number of Perth's glitzy glitterati can be spotted wandering past the chic stores of Highgate and Mount Lawley, pausing just long enough for coffee or some form of fancy tea and to chat over the scandals splashed across the local rag or lifestyle magazine. A parade of pooches can often be seen sitting patiently by their masters at the sidewalk tables that give Soto just a hint of European class.
Soto is always busy, but never cramped and there's definitely a tasty tartlet, crave-worthy cake or bountiful breakfast to satisfy the fussiest - or grumpiest - appetite.
While I'm a sucker for a warmed blueberry muffin and cappucino, I know that the Soto Long Macchiato (topped up, of course) holds the secret restorative powers required by my party hearty brother.
