Subiaco Hotel

Staggering in from a blistering 38 degree Perth day, a welcome, refreshing and air conditioned establishment awaited me. I was initially spoilt with choice: lounge on the couch, or sit up with the barflys? I opted for the former, and wasn't dissapointed. After a relaxed drink, i ventured into the sheik eating area. I decided to lunge straight into the main course menu and ordered a caesar salad with candied bacon, and let me tell you, it was devine!! The combination or fresh greens with delicious, crisp bacon and croutons was scrumptious, something I haven't experienced in this form before. Wow! The best affordable and impressive dining in Subiaco.

... was exquisite.

As a new comer to Perth and as a food-loving student, my friend and I decided to find a good place to have breakfast together. Hours of research online led us to the Subiaco Hotel Restaurant. 

I still remember the misty winter morning when I woke up and caught a train to the hotel. We were surprised as to how classy the interior of the restaurant was and it was already a good sign as to what is to come. The first thing I wanted was to try the "Egg in the Middle with grilled black pudding, tomato relish". 

For as long as I can remember, I've never liked tomato. Not even tomato paste or ketchup. But the tomato relish that came with the dish was absolutely appetizing. It was tangy, full of zest, adding more flavor and not to mention, appetite to the consumer of the dish. I had to remind myself that I was actually sharing the dish with my mate before I actually consumed every morsel. Black pudding was what attracted me since I've never tried it and heard it was made from blood. Disgusting as it sounds, it turned out to be one of the most delicious sausage-like food that has entered my oral cavity. Boy oh boy, it was a wonderful combination.

And as for the "Morrocan Brik pastry, duck egg, turkish sausage, spinach & feta" dish, it was just as good (although I still much prefer the first dish). To be completely honest, I was stuffed from the first dish (I pigged myself and helped myself much to it, leaving my friend with a miniscule portion. Sorry!) so by the time I tried this dish, I didn't had any appetite left. 

We left with a big grin, satisfied and wondered when will be the next time we go there for breakfast again?
