Introducing François Péron National Park

Renowned for its dramatic golden cliffs, pristine white-sand beaches, salt lakes and rare marsupial species, this national park (per bus passenger/car $4/10), 4km from Denham on the Monkey Mia Rd, will reward those with 4WD vehicles and an adventurous spirit. There’s a visitors centre at the old Peron Homestead, 6km from the main road, where a former artesian bore has been converted to a soothing 35°C hot tub, a novel spot for a sunset soak. There are camp sites ($9) with limited facilities at Big Lagoon, Gregories, Bottle Bay and Herald Bight. If you don’t have your own wheels, take a tour to the park.
