Your advise Western Australia

Hello,

With relative short notice I have the opportunity to go on vacation for 4 weeks in December.
One of the destination options is Western Australia.
My idea was to travel into Perth and out of Darwin or vice versa.
Question: How to get around?
My travel agent says I can hire a car (or camper) but the one way penalty is enormous - however I don't want to drive all the way back. He also says, you can go by bus, but you won't get to highlights on the way easily.
I remember many years ago on…

New Years Eve in NSW

Hi all,

Just curious if anyone has had good New Years Eve experiences in Regional NSW? I live in Sydney, I've done the fireworks here too many times, and I want to do something different this year - was thinking maybe a road trip to somewhere outside of Sydney. Any ideas?

Thanks!

city and state maps for my wall

I just moved to Sydney, and I want to have a map of the Sydney metro area and/or NSW on my wall, mostly for reference, but for decor as well I suppose. I looked some up and most are fairly expensive at $50 or more. Does the city give away a free map of any kind at some council office? Tourism office perhaps? State historical society?

Diving in Australia

Hi guys!

I will be travelling on the Australian East coast for 3 weeks in November and wanted to ask if any of you could tell me:

(i) What is the best spot to dive in the Great Barrier Reef?
(ii) Departing from Sidney, where is the best (quality/price/distance) place to dive with white sharks?

Thank you!

Cheers,
Frederico

Kakadu or Arnhem Land in May?

We are two early-70's people who have been in Australia several times but are making our first trip to the NT in May 2015. We are decent walkers but not climbers or distances over a couple of miles. We have the opportunity to fly into either Kakadu or Arnhem Land for a day and would love some insights into the merits of either. Our interests are both wildlife and Aboriginal art/culture.
